Duane Border Design is a boutique, full service landscape architecture studio providing master planning, site design, and construction administration. Our studio is based in Los Angeles, but our reach extends throughout Southern California and beyond.
We practice an inclusive design process including community engagement, site programming, amenity planning, and site-specific design focused on the restorative principles of landscape design to create safe, equitable open spaces that promote healthy living and meet, or exceed, the expectations of our clients.

Our designs are custom tailored to fit a site’s form, context, and intent. We use history, culture, fashion, architecture, graphic design, and a myriad of other influences to create a story uniquely suited to a client, community, and site. Successful landscapes embrace all elements of a projects environment and lifestyle to maximize its potential.
We lead from the initial stages of visioning and planning through the final installation using a hands-on, personal process of design and documentation to maintain the highest level of service and quality control.

Duane Border Design approaches each project with an interactive design process to encourage a complete view of a project site, client, and community goals in order to make the most of every opportunity.
Our design process begins by establishing a shared vision and set of clear expectations from which we prioritize program, amenities, and budget for the project. This vision connects all stakeholders and design team members to the project and directs our efforts from site selection and analysis to installation.
We provide hands-on, personal service throughout the design and documentation efforts to maintain the highest level of service and quality control for our clients.

In cities, suburbs, and everywhere in-between, our process is similar; we establish a shared vision with our clients and communities that lead to strong connections, a sense of place, and encourage healthy living through an increased connection with the wonders of nature.
Regardless of location, size, or budget, we are adept at creating design solutions to enhance the fabric of communities. This is critical in communities in which open space is scarce. Many urban neighborhoods lack adequate shade to reduce temperatures, open space to increase storm water infiltration, and plant materials to enhance biodiversity and provide natural habitat zones.
