ballona creek feasibility plan

Duane Border Design was contracted to provide landscape design services and community engagement efforts for storm water feasibility studies at two project sites along the Ballona Creek corridor bordering Culver City and Los Angeles with the Baldwin Hills Conservancy, KPFF Civil Engineers and California Greenworks, a local non-profit.

Duane Border Design organized and led multiple stakeholder presentations and workshops to assist in public education, and strategies for incorporating storm water BMP strategies into the landscape site designs to manage over 9 acres of storm water collection. 

The design team utilized mapping, diagrams, extensive site inventory and analysis information to assist community stakeholders in understand the existing conditions and untapped potential of the open spaces. Landscape Concept Designs, plant and materials palettes, illustrative site sections, and details coordinated with KPFF engineers will be used to secure additional grant funding for future installation.

The landscape concept designs are multi-function arrangements of aesthetic, restorative and sustainable public open spaces for improved water quality and much needed access to this tributary of the Los Angeles River.
